TV Review: ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ becomes the longest running medical drama

Grey’s Anatomy has captured people’s hearts for 15 seasons. It has fans reaching for tissue boxes every week, especially when their favorite characters leave. On Thursday, Grey’s Anatomy became the longest running medical drama when it aired its 332nd episode, beating out its predecessor ER

The episode acted as a breather from all the hardships the characters had recently gone through. Jackson (Jesse Williams) threw the party Catherine (Debbie Allen) asked for when she recovered from her surgery. The social gathering acted as a funnel for all of the season’s problems.

Despite sending Leo and Betty off with Betty’s parents earlier in the episode, Owen (Kevin McKidd) couldn’t stop looking at Teddy (Kim Raver) and Korasick (Greg Germann). That obviously made Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) mad, so she tried to talk to Owen about their problems for the first time in a while.

Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) got roped into the melodramatic situation. She finally had the whole house to herself and was going to celebrate by christening her and Deluca (Giacomo Gianniotti)’s new relationship. With all of her problems, Amelia invited herself over, and Deluca and Meredith had to settle for sex in Jackson’s guest bedroom.

Meanwhile Alex’s mom made an unexpected trip to Seattle and found her way to the party. Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex Justin Chambers) spent most of the time looking for his mom. While everyone was at the party, Catherine and Bailey (Chandra Wilson) were in a limo drinking and spending away their problems.

But it wouldn’t be Grey’s Anatomy without some extra drama. Shortly after Owen punched Korasick, Alex’s mom points to a fire in the apartment and everyone is rushed out in the middle of Jackson’s toast. The fire department shows up, and everyone leaves relatively happy. The episode ended with Betty giving Leo back to Owen, and Deluca received a surprise visit from his dad and sister. So one could say there is still enough drama to go around.

Here’s how fans reacted to the record-breaking episode on Twitter:
