TV Review: ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ may have killed off its first major character of the final season

Well into the final season of How to Get Away with Murder, the plot is thickening, and our favorite characters are digging themselves deeper into their problems.

After Michaela (Aja Naomi King) discovered her father’s identity, she traveled to New York with Gabriel (Rome Flynn) to watch him give a keynote speech on feminism. In the middle of the speech, Michaela stood up and confronted him about sleeping with his clients, which prompted a reaction from her father.

Later, Michaela broke into his hotel room to try and find DNA that would prove he was her father, but he caught her. He then revealed that he knew she was Michaela Pratt all along, but she stormed out of the room crying. At the bar, she agreed to talk to him but only if he’ll answer all of her questions.

Gabriel continued to listen to the tapes provided by his mother, which follow Annalise (Viola Davis) in therapy. In a revelation, Gabriel learned that Annalise broke up with Eve (Famke Janssen) but met someone else: her therapist.

Throughout the episode, Annalise started to catch feelings for another lawyer, Robert. The two went on a date and had a genuine, deep conversation. While Annalise was first skeptical, it seems Robert is interested in her despite her flaws and controversy.

Elsewhere, Bonnie (Liza Weil) and Nate (Billy Brown) tried to find more dirt on Tegan (Amirah Vann). The FBI further pressed Nate on helping them with Annalise’s case, even offering him a job, but he said he wants to close his father’s case first.

After Bonnie steals Tegan’s divorce filing, the pair realize that Tegan has stock in a company under Laurel’s (Karla Souza) name. Bonnie then confronted Tegan, but she denied any association with Laurel’s disappearance, though Nate remained skeptical. As the two discussed this, the doorbell rang, and Bonnie opened it, revealing a slumped, bloody and badly-beaten Frank (Charlie Weber).

While Frank’s fate lies in uncertainty, viewers will question if he has become the first casualty of the final, killer season of How to Get Away with Murder.
