Instagram removes the Following tab; Paint the Town Green contest connects Athens and OU

Today is Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019. Here’s what you need to know:

Correction appended.

Good morning,

Instagram is removing its “Following” tab, which has been deemed creepy and stalker-ish by many Instagram users.

The company had intended for this feature to be a way to find new accounts, but instead, it acted as more of a stalking tool. It was also being used by few people, who were instead mainly looking at the “Explore” page.

The tab also caused a lot of drama, as being able to see some of the posts people liked could pose problems in friendships or relationships.

Either way, the Explore page achieves the same purpose the Following tab had intended, so fans of the app can still use the Explore page.
