Celebrate National Taco Day at these 9 Athens restaurants

It’s time for a fiesta, because Oct. 4 is National Taco Day. Grab your friends and take a trip around Athens to sample tacos from these 9 restaurants. You’re bound to need a siesta after this adventure.

Fluff Bakery

Located at 8 N Court Street, Fluff offers the best way to start the day: breakfast tacos! Offering two chorizo and potato or two veggie tacos for $8, this is a great one if you’re on a mission to eat only tacos to celebrate this holiday.

Taco John’s

Having everything you’ll need to celebrate the day, Taco John’s, 392 Richland Ave, is a go-to stop on National Taco Day. From the beefy and cheesy Stuffed Grilled Taco to the classic Hard Shell and Soft Shell tacos, this fast food joint has you set. They even have a pre-priced six taco pack that also comes with a pound of their famous Potato Oles.

Casa Nueva

Casa Nueva, 6 W State St., is known for its classic Mexican food, like chimichangas and enchiladas, but the eatery also has tacos! One taco, filled with your choice of fillings, cheese and lettuce will set you back about $5, while two will cost $10.

Gran Ranchero

Gran Ranchero, 979 E State St., might be a little far to travel for tacos, but in addition to bean, beef or chicken tacos, it also has pages of different Mexican classics to satisfy your cravings. This one is a little cheaper, with 3 hard shell tacos costing you $4.25 and soft tacos costing about a dollar more.

El Camino

Located at 1017 E State St., El Camino has the widest variety of protein to put in your taco with shredded chicken, beef, grilled chicken, grilled steak, carnita, chorizo, fish and beans all being options. Here, you can make your own combination of the chicken or beef tacos, or throw in some other classics, for $8.25 for two or $9.50 for three.

Taco Bell

Though it’s not on Court Street, Taco Bell, 978 E State St., is the classic late-night taco shop everyone knows about. With classics like the hard shell and soft shell beef tacos, setting you back $1.29 a piece, and the Taco Bell unique ones, like the Doritos Locos taco, at $1.89, and the spicy potato taco, at $1, Taco Bell has everything you’ll need to celebrate this holiday.

Buffalo Wild Wings

Buffalo Wild Wings, 23 W Union St., probably isn’t on the top of your list for places to get tacos, but listen under their appetizer section, you’ll find three chicken street tacos. At $5.29, these little tacos will make a great lunch grab between classes.

Chipotle

Alongside Taco Bell, Chipotle, 41 S Court St., is probably another one of the first places you think of when you think of tacos. With one taco setting you back anywhere from $2.55  for chicken, sofrita or veggies to $3.10 for carne asada, this one sets in the middle of the road when it comes to cost.

Qdoba

Fueling the desire for Mexican-inspired food, Qdoba, 859 E State Street, takes the same down-the-line concept as Chipotle and adds some menu items and its own flair. Calling their tacos, “knockout tacos,” Qdoba is a little bit cheaper, with a three taco combo costing $7.80.
