Ohio University announced Monday the Fall Semester commencement speaker will be Steven Evans, a distinguished professor in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Evans is a psychology professor and the co-director of the Center for Intervention Research in Schools.
The Center for Intervention Research in Schools is dedicated to helping children with emotional and behavioral problems through school-based support, according to a university news release.
“Dr. Evans’ work and research have had a national impact in the field of childhood mental health and treatment for adolescents with (ADHD),” OU President Duane Nellis said in the release.
Evans has been a professor at OU since 2009. Before coming to Athens, he was a professor in the graduate college and an assistant professor of psychology at James Madison University.
Evans earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University, his master’s degree in psychology from Ball State University and his doctorate degree in diclinical psychology from Case Western Reserve University.
Evans researches mental health in schools, and treatment development and evaluation for adolescents with A.D.H.D. and related problems.
