TV Recap: 10 celebrities perform, 2 are sent waddling and crawling home on ‘The Masked Singer’

After a two week hiatus because of the World Series, FOX brought laughs back to its line-up with a two episode return of The Masked Singer. Because the break lasted longer than expected, audiences were graced with ten performances and two reveals. Here’s what you missed on last night’s episode:

The Rottweiler

Opening the show with a performance of OneRepublic’s “Love Runs Out,” the Rottweiler left us just as confused as last time. With hints referencing musical theatre, kale and trophies, it’s hard to come up with a solid guess for this dog.

Guess: Drake Bell

The Ladybug

The clues the Ladybug gave might’ve confused the judges (and us) even more, with a “Best Host” trophy and everything looking rosy on the outside. After a relatively decent performance of “Juice” by Lizzo, the Ladybug is keeping it impossible to guess her identity.

Guess: Jamie Lynn Spears

The Tree

When trying to hide your identity, it’s probably best not to quote a well-known movie you starred in. The Tree performed Aretha Franklin’s “Think” and her line from her clue package, “I’m not a regular tree, I’m a cool tree” might remind viewers of the line from Mean Girls, “I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom.”

Guess: Ana Gasteyer

The Penguin

After a wild clue package and an interesting performance of “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor, the Penguin doesn’t disappoint with confusion with references to D-List and curbing her enthusiasm.

Guess: Kathy Griffin

The Flower

Despite saying she’s never taken a vocal lesson, the Flower’s performance of Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” indicates she certainly knows how to sing. Her clue package was full of numbers, from a clock flashing 12:00 to 524 and a price tag with $13 on it, continuing to throw us for a loop.

Guess: Patti LaBelle

The Fox

Finishing out the first episode of the night was the Fox with a performance of Panic! At the Disco’s “Hey Look Ma, I Made It.” Among the clues were the word “shazam” and imagining being in uniform.

Guess: Jamie Foxx

Reveal One

After voting from the audience and judges, the first celebrity of the night, the Penguin, was revealed to be TV personality Sherri Shepherd.

Black Widow

Wearing a sling, the Black Widow started off the second episode of the night with a performance of “Believe” by Cher. Among her clues were Memphis and Bel-Air and she brought crackers and whipped cream on stage for a physical clue.

Guess: Raven-Symone

Thingamajig

The cuddly green Thingamajig took the stage with a stellar performance of “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” by The Temptations. Among his clues were shoes, an ASL book and gummy worms, confusing everyone more than we already were, but there’s still one solid guess based on previous clues.

Guess: Victor Oladipo

Butterfly

Bringing some of the most confusing clues of the night, with references to Joyful Noise, a church choir and bleeding love. Her stunning performance of “Don’t Know Why” by •Norah Jones further confirms her vocal talents.

Guess: Michelle Williams

Leopard

The Leopard comes out roaring with a rendition of “Teenage Dream” by Katy Perry that matches his attitude we’ve come to love this season. Among his clues were “RU gonna go my way,” cameras and the word “pose.”

Guess: RuPaul

Flamingo

Closing out the night with one of the best performances, the Flamingo performed a rendition of Loren Allred’s “Never Enough” from the movie The Greatest Showman. Among her clues were Spanish words, being both an actress and singer and an NCAAP Image Award.

Guess: Adrienne Bailon

Reveal Two

After four stellar performances, one of the celebrities was voted off. Behind the Black Widow mask was actress and popular guess Raven-Symone.
