Emojis may be a license plate option soon; Mike DeWine is the 2020 state co-chair of the Appalachian regional commission

Today is Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning,

A new bill in Vermont is introducing emojis to license plates.

State Representative Rebecca White introduced the proposal, which would let drivers add one of six emojis to the license plates. The symbols will not replace any letters or numbers assigned by the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles or what is selected by the vehicle’s owner.

It has still not been decided what the license plate would look like or what emojis would be available, but the bill was presented before the Committee of Transportation last week.
