The age-old debate over how to pronounce the word “GIF” may have just gotten rekindled.
J.M. Smucker, the company that produces Jif peanut butter, is collaborating with Giphy to create a special line of labels for its jars.
New jars of peanut butter will be labeled as “gif,” complete with a banner saying “Hard g Pronunciation” in honor of the short animation clips. When placed next to a normal jar of Jif peanut butter, the contrasting labels are designed to show the different pronunciations for the words.
The special Jif jars can be purchased from Amazon for a limited time.
