TV Review: Mykenna cries her way off of ‘The Bachelor’

Rose lovers, we’re still trying to catch our breath after Monday night’s three hour special of The Bachelor. The claws came out, tears were violently shed and a brief cocktail party happened during the rose ceremony. Nonetheless, the show (*cough* drama *cough*) must go on. After a one-day intermission, Wednesday’s episode picked up right back up on the drama and Mykenna crying, per usual.

Tears aside, things get hot and spicy quickly as Peter and the twelve remaining ladies travel to Santiago, Chile. It’s time to “dive in” to frontrunner Hannah Ann’s relationship past, a second one-on-one date for Victoria F. and the infamous two-on-one date. One rose amongst two dates has drama written all over it. Here are some highlights you might have missed from the latest episode of The Bachelor:

Hannah Ann is falling in love

This season of The Bachelor drastically differs from the previous, as the women seem to be completely oblivious to the process. Peter going on one-on-ones with women has become emotional turmoil for some, and caused utter jealousy and drama for others.

Once Peter joins the ladies in Chile, he picks Hannah Ann for their first one-on-one date.

“I’m pretty bummed. Of course I wanted to be on a one-on-one with him,” Natasha admits. “Hannah Ann is one of the younger people in the house. I mean, is she actually ready for marriage?”

The two spend their day frolicking around Santiago’s Plaza de Armas, where they meet a local couple who has been married for twenty years. The elephant in the room is addressed when they comment on how young Hannah Ann looks. “Sometimes I still worry about her age,” Peter confesses.

His doubts arise during the evening portion of the date when he asks about her goals and past relationship experience. “This is what I want because I haven’t found my true love in the past,” she tells him. The moment ends in frustration as Peter walks away to gather his thoughts. Hannah puts his doubts to rest by finally opening up as she confesses, “I really care a lot… I’m starting to fall in love with you.” After the couple finally reaches a breakthrough moment, Peter gives her a rose in the end.

Victoria P. digs her own grave

After a long group telenovella date and Mykenna’s multiple crying episodes, the real drama  ensues during the evening cocktail party. Victoria “my truth is my truth” P. gets her one-on-one time in with Peter by sitting on his lap because she “needs some physical touch.” She delves right into the Alayah situation and expresses how she doesn’t want to reflect upon her character. Meanwhile, she’s kissing his hand and Pete is anything but into it.

“I think we both felt a drop off. I hate that it did, but it distracted me,” he tells her. Victoria fights his doubts by trying to spark forward motion for the connection. However, the damage has already been done. Girl, stop kissing his hand!

Peter’s tone quickly changes as he drops the bomb, “I don’t know if I see you as my wife.” Things only get worse as the door is quickly slammed shut on the relationship. Victoria switches from sadness to anger as she refuses to accept his many apologies.

Before we know it, Victoria is trying to locate a producer saying, “Can I get a car, can I get a cab? I just want to leave.” Peter chases her as she exits and tells her the classic “you’re going to make someone so happy someday.” It may have been awkward, but Victoria took power of the moment — bidding The Bachelor farewell with a stern “I know.”

Victoria F. gets a “do-over” one-on-one

If we know anything about Peter at this point, it’s that he makes his own rules. For Victoria F., that means she gets a “do-over” one-on-one date, despite many women not even having their first yet. “It was a little bit difficult for her on our first date,” Peter states. Yeah, yeah.

The two meet a ranch where they learn the art of “connecting” with horses. Very romantic. Peter, however, is optimistic that the date will help the couple connect on some level. Victoria F. looks like she’s messing up her shoes, but the two have a blast on the date.

Matters become tense when Victoria verbalizes how she’s having a hard time. “I’m trying not to be in my head about the other girls. It’s just hard,” she admits. The tears come through, which Peter loves to see out of the women. Then we get the real reason why The Bachelor invited her on a second one-on-one: just to spend more time with her. It’s not like the other women aren’t crying about not having their first one-on-one or anything!

Victoria F.’s insecurities begin to manifest as she explains, “Maybe you would be happier with someone who could be more open with you at this point. You deserve someone who’s confident.” Peter is dumbfounded and questioning if she even still wants to be here.

Although she’s pushing him away with force, Peter somehow still gives her a rose. Manipulation at its best, folks.

Mykenna v. Tammy smackdown

It’s time for the infamous two-on-one. One rose, two dates. One stays, one goes. The lucky ladies in the hot seat? Tammy and Mykenna. Tension heats up the second the date card arrives reading, “Mykenna and Tammy, meet me at the cocktail party before everyone else arrives. Enough is enough.”

Before Peter arrives, Mykenna tries to stand her ground stating, “I am proud of who I am! Kindness wins. Love wins.” Tammy stays silent in her energy… until Peter arrives. She instantly starts pointing fingers stating, “She [Mykenna] packed her bags before the group date and was ready to leave!” Mykenna insists Tammy is twisting her words, and suddenly the good ol’ she-said-she-said fight ensues.

The two “fight to the death” through a series of name-calling and brand-building accusations until Peter finally reaches a verdict. In the end, Tammy gets the chopping block, coincidentally wearing black for her own “funeral.”

But in a shocking turn of events… Mykenna gets the chopping block at the rose ceremony moments later. Yikes.

The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
