South Green construction connected to recently constructed chilled water facility

The installment of piping that began Feb. 24 outside of Nelson Commons is being done in conjunction with the recently constructed chilled water plant.

The new piping caused the movement of dirt and erection of fencing on South Green.

The construction is anticipated to be completed by the end of the week, Brody Bauers, project manager in Facilities and Construction, said. Despite the goals for the project, the completion is dependent on the weather this week.

A new chilled water plant on South Green, expected to be completed in late spring 2020, will bring central air to more buildings on both West and East greens, according to a previous Post report.

Many buildings around campus currently do not have central air conditioning. The project will expand the university’s ability to air condition more buildings around campus, including Washington Hall on East Green and James Hall on West Green as some of the first.
