Football: Mid-American Conference releases updated 2020 schedule

The Mid-American Conference released its updated 2020 football schedule Wednesday afternoon with the dates for six regular season games for every team.

The first three games Ohio plays will be midweek games, and it will not have a bye week this season. Kickoff times are yet to be announced.

Ohio begins its season Nov. 4 when it travels to MAC West opponent Central Michigan. The two teams last played each other in the 2017-18 season in Athens, where the Chippewas defeated the Bobcats 26-23. Following the season opener, the Bobcats will host their first home game against Akron on Nov. 10.

The annual “Battle of the Bricks” rivalry game against Miami will take place in Oxford on Nov. 17. From there, Ohio will remain in Athens for two weeks to host Bowling Green and Buffalo on Nov. 28 and Dec. 5, respectively.

2020 will close for the Bobcats when they travel to Kent State on Dec. 12. The MAC Championship game will be held Dec. 18 at Ford Field in Detroit.

Ohio’s previous 2020 schedule had been announced in March, and its opening game was supposed to be at home against North Carolina Central. The season was postponed Aug. 8 after the MAC suspended all fall sports due to COVID-19. When MAC presidents voted unanimously to bring back fall football Sept. 25, it was announced each team would play a conference-only schedule.
