SNL paid tribute to Ruth Bader Ginsburg; police brutality discussed at City Council meeting

Today is Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning,

Saturday Night Live paid tribute to the late Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, in its season 46 premiere.

Kate McKinnon has portrayed Ginsburg in a number of episodes before on SNL. On Saturday, McKinnon put on the costume one last time to honor her memory.

There wasn’t a sketch or anything funny about it. As the show progressed out of the Weekend Update, McKinnon was seated among the audience in full costume and simply placed her hand on her heart, bowed her head and looked up.

Following McKinnon’s nod to the late Justice, there was a picture of the Ginsburg costume with a white flower and the text, “Rest in Power.”

Among all the hilarious and, sometimes insensitive, powerful sketches, the tribute was an emotional and heartfelt moment for the entire cast and audience.
