City Council: Athens Ohio City Source app announced, vaccine distribution discussed

City Council President Chris Knisely announced that the Athens Ohio City Source app has been activated for the App Store and the Google Play Store.

The app can be used to report city issues, receive city news and search for city jobs.

Knisely said that citizens can also report concerns to the city through the Athens City website.

Mayor Steve Patterson said that vaccines for COVID-19 will be available this week for people age 70 and up, as well as employees in the K-12 school system. He also said that distribution of the vaccine is predicated by when Athens County receives the amount of doses necessary to vaccine all eligible individuals.

“I think it’s important that everyone know that there is a level of patience they need to keep in mind with the vaccine as it does roll out,” Patterson said.

He said that Athens County has received over 900 doses of the vaccine for distribution this week.
