Women's Basketball: What to know about Mercyhurst

Ohio will grace The Convo for the first time this season on Saturday when it takes on a new opponent, Mercyhurst.

  • Centrulla leads the Lakers in points with 46 total and 15.3 per game. She also leads in field goals and blocks. 
  • Boyd leads the Lakers in rebounds with 30 total and an average of 10 per game. She also ties the lead in steals, turnovers and personal fouls. 

Background 

The Lakers were voted to finish fourth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference West Division in the conference’s preseason coaches poll. They finished the 2020-21 season with an 11-6 record. 

The last Mid-American Conference opponent Mercyhurst faced was Buffalo. It lost 85-49 in an exhibition game on Nov. 25, 2020.  

Mercyhurst is a Division II program and it has only faced Division II opponents so far this season. It is currently 0-3 after losses to Charleston, West Liberty and Notre Dame (Ohio). 

Series History 

There is no history between the Bobcats and the Lakers. Saturday will mark the first time the two teams will face off.
