Hockey: Ohio has a chance to turn a corner at Iowa State

Ohio needs a win, and it needs one soon.

The Bobcats have lost their last four games. However, they have a chance to turn the corner. Although it will be a challenge, the Bobcats have a chance to redeem themselves against fellow Central States Collegiate Hockey League member Iowa State.

Iowa State is ranked fifth in the American Collegiate Hockey Association. However, Ohio has beaten a top-five team on the road before. It upset then-No. 3 Liberty at the LaHaye Ice Arena in mid-November. Ohio needs to hone the teamwork and cohesiveness it showed in that game when it takes on Iowa State this weekend.

Ohio vs. Iowa State History:

Ohio and Iowa State have already played twice this season. They last faced off in a series at Bird Arena in mid-October. Iowa State was Ohio’s first real test, and it swept Ohio without much trouble. Ohio got down early in the first game against Iowa State and lost 6-4 after not being able to recover.

The following night, penalties got the best of Ohio. It lost its head and ultimately the game. Overcoming deficits and giving up goals on the power play have plagued Ohio multiple times this season. They are mistakes Ohio can’t afford to make this weekend.
