Baseball: What to know for Ohio's series against South Carolina Upstate

Ohio baseball is back.

The Bobcats kick off their season this weekend with road series against South Carolina Upstate. They will play a three-game series in Spartanburg, South Carolina, beginning on Friday afternoon.

Opponent: South Carolina Upstate

Times: 3 p.m. (Friday), 2 p.m. (Saturday), 1 p.m. (Sunday)

Series history 

Ohio is 2-4 against South Carolina Upstate since 2018. The Bobcats faced the Spartans in three-game series in 2018 and 2019, and took one game in each series.

Ohio hasn’t faced South Carolina Upstate in three years. The last two times the Bobcats and Spartans faced off, Ohio’s seniors were freshmen. Only a handful of Ohio’s players will have played in Spartanburg before. 

Player to watch 

Noah Myers — Myers transferred to South Carolina Upstate after playing two seasons at South Carolina. He played in 25 games for the Gamecocks last season and had several clutch at-bats. Before playing at South Carolina, he was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association All-America second team while at Wabash Valley Community College. Meyers was also selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 30th round of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
