OUPD found critical missing person after search

Ohio University Police Department has found Matthew Wallace, an 18-year-old man who was described as a critical missing person, safe in Columbus who was missing since Oct. 2.

According to an OUPD tweet, Wallace arrived in Columbus by a GoBus. They are coordinating with law enforcement partners in Columbus to assist with the search.

In a later tweet, OUPD wrote it deeply appreciated the information and support from local communities and law enforcement.

At 9:21 a.m., OU released information searching for Wallace who was last seen at West Green wearing a maroon hoodie and black Birkenstocks Oct. 2 at around 5:40 p.m. He purchased a GoBus ticket to Cincinnati for that evening, according to an OU report.

Tim Ryan, staff lieutenant for OUPD, said he does not yet know how Wallace arrived in Columbus given the ticket he bought was for Cincinnati.
