Fresh Finds Friday: Music from 070 Shake, Searows

Happy Friday! With the end of the week in sight, it’s time for new music.

Just this past week, we have new music from 070 Shake, Searows and KiNG MALA.

Here are five new songs you should check out:

“Natural Habitat” by 070 Shake, Ken Carson

070 Shake and Ken Carson team up for their new song “Natural Habitat,” which was previously teased at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, South by Southwest and the Governors Ball Music Festival. It’s the second taste of her forthcoming album, due sometime in early 2024. Meanwhile, Carson released his latest album, “A Great Chaos,” this past October. The duo exchange lines about a drug-infused love emphasized in lyrics “We was in love we was on drugs / Turn you on, huh / I was on her / She was on me / That’s on everything.” The song comes with a visualizer directed by Machine Operated, which you can watch here.

“I have more than enough” by Searows

Kentucky-born, Oregon-raised singer/songwriter Searows brings us "I have more than enough," a song that discusses experiencing writer's block and how it can be a part of any musician's life, as well as how inspiration can turn into a song.

“I wrote and recorded most of this song in one day after walking outside for the first time in weeks,” the singer said in an interview with NME. “I ended up stopping every few steps on my way home to write random thighs down, and when I got back, I wrote this song and then recorded."

The song is one of six songs off his debut EP, "End Of The World." You can also catch him supporting Gracie Abrams during the U.K. and European leg of her “Good Riddance" tour.

”Pickup Man” by HIXTAPE (HARDY), Joe Diffie, Post Malone

Post Malone recently scored his first hit on Billboard's Country Airplay Chart, debuting at No.54 with his ode to country singer Joe Diffie on "Pickup Man." The song debuted during the 2023 Country Music Association Awards, or CMAs, and came together using old recordings of Diffie's vocals, which also turned into another cover of Diffie's "John Deere Green." These recordings will also culminate into other songs that will make up HARDY'S much-anticipated album, "HIXTAPE Vol.3,” set to arrive March 29.

“i only smoke to feel bad” by KiNG MALA

Blurted confessions, strained questions and demanding declarations define the standout track, “i only smoke to feel bad” by KiNG MALA. Loose strums and claps work together to make this snappy pop song, and it truly separates itself from the rest of the tracks off her new EP, “SPILT MILK.” You can check out a visualizer for the song here.

“fault in the stars” by Powfu, The Chainsmokers

Canadian rapper Powfu is well known for songs such as "ill come back to you (feat. Sarcastic Sounds & Rxseboy)," "death bed (coffee for your head) (feat. beabadoobee)” and several more, now returning with a collaboration with The Chainsmokers on "fault in the stars."

At first, the computerized melodies intertwine with Powfu's cloudy vocals about a possible lover in the lyrics: "I'll send the text tellin' you / Sleep tight / Don't double jump, your lips taste like bubble-gum." The Chainsmokers posted on Instagram said, "Powfu is such a talented songwriter. I'm a sucker for detailed storytelling in songs, and this kid got the sauce."
