Men's Basketball: Ohio drops another close game in loss against Davidson

For Ohio, winning close games down the stretch has been a problem all season. Against Davidson, these struggles continued. The Bobcats lost another close game with a final of 72-69.

Ohio had its chances late in the game but could not convert on a few key drives that would lead to its demise.

Here are a few numbers to know from Ohio’s matchup against Davidson.

11

The number of lead changes that occurred throughout the game. Ohio and Davidson were able to stay relatively close throughout the game, with neither team able to hold a sustained lead. Each team had the lead and lost it throughout the game.

59.3%

Ohio’s free-throw percentage. Ohio struggled from the free-throw line against Davidson, missing 11 of its 27 shots from the line; in a close game like this one, Ohio’s struggles to convert its easy shots proved to play a major factor at the final buzzer.

18-5

Ohio’s run in the final 5:47 of the first half. The Bobcats trailed by as many as 8 in the first half but came back with an 18-5 run at the end of the half that gave the team a 7-point lead heading into the locker room.

A majority of Ohio’s run was led by a half-court defense that the Davidson offense struggled to penetrate.

0%

Ohio’s 3-point percentage in the second half.

Ohio failed to convert a single shot from the 3-point line in the second half, missing five straight.

Having only 5 attempts from the 3-point line, Ohio was unable to generate open shots in the second half, which led to Davidson being able to claw back from a 7-point halftime deficit.

30

Number of minutes for sophomore forward Aidan Hadaway.

Hadaway tallied a career-high in minutes against Davidson, which is in part due to the news of Ohio’s AJ Brown being out for the season with a shoulder injury. Brown is one of Ohio’s bright young stars who has struggled with injury early on in his collegiate career. With Brown out for the season, Hadaway will have to step up in the starting lineup.

In 30 minutes of play, Hadaway tallied 6 points and four assists with a team-leading nine rebounds.
