Safe and sound

According to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to New Marshfield for a well-being check on a male in the area. The male was not initially located, and a “Be On The Lookout” was issued to other local law enforcement agencies. 

The man was located safely shortly after.

Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Willow Creek Road for a complaint regarding mail placed in mailboxes. 

The officers at the scene took a report and advised that the caller contact the United States Postal Service.

Thursday, May 29

Who let the dogs out?

Deputies from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Willow Creek Road regarding suspicious activity. 

Deputies spoke with the caller and gathered information about what the caller claimed were a suspicious vehicle and individuals. 

Later information determined that the individuals were searching for a lost dog, and no further action was necessary. 

Mama told me not to, but I did it anyway

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call from East Fourth Street in The Plains regarding issues with juveniles. 

When the deputies arrived at the scene, the complainant told them her children were not listening to her.

A case manager was also on the scene to help the complainant, and deputies determined no further action was needed. 

Friday, May 30

This isn’t your house

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call from Carr Bailey Road in Millfield regarding a burglary. 

The officers at the scene took a statement. At the time the Athens County Sheriff’s Office posted their reports, the case was still under investigation. 

Speed racer

Deputies of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office patrolled U.S. Route 33 in Athens near Richland Avenue after complaints of a reckless driver. 

The deputies were unable to locate the vehicle that was described, but they returned to patrol the area.

Saturday, May 31

Fight with your words

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call from Campbell Road in Athens regarding a verbal dispute. 

When deputies arrived at the scene, they spoke with both involved parties and determined the dispute was strictly verbal. 

The man agreed to leave the scene and was given a courtesy ride by deputies to a friend/family member's house. 

Stolen dog?

Deputies from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from 33 Main Street in regards to a theft report. 

Once deputies got to the scene, it was determined that the dog was not stolen, but had just run off. The dog was returned, and deputies resumed patrol. 

Sunday, June 1

Oops, wrong kid

Deputies of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office stopped to speak to an individual near Canal Street in Nelsonville, as the individual matched the description of a runaway juvenile. 

Deputies spoke with the individual but determined he was not the juvenile they were looking for.

Come get your food!

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a noise complaint from North Plains Road in The Plains. 

Once the deputies arrived at the scene, they found that no further action was necessary, as the noise was coming from a DoorDash driver knocking on the neighbor’s door to deliver food.

Monday, June 2

Warrants of the week

Warrants of arrest are out for Jennifer Saunders-Blackburn and Jeffrey Friesner. 

Both are in violation of their parole for the possession of drugs. Anyone with information is to contact the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

Hold your horses

Deputies in Athens County responded to a call from Radford Road regarding loose horses in the area. The horses were not located.

Tuesday, June 3

Pound the alarm

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call from North Plains Road in The Plains in regards to an activated business alarm. 

Once on the scene, deputies determined that there was no emergency, and the alarm had just malfunctioned. No further action was needed, and deputies resumed patrol. 

Construction is always causing problems

Deputies from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office were sent to State Route 144 in Coolville for what seemed to be an open 911 call. 

When the deputies arrived, they determined the cause was a cut phone line from a construction project in the area, and there was no emergency.
