Police Blotter: Dog stampede; explosions, not shots

Wednesday, May 21

No fight, just a little puke

According to a report from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to US 33 near Pleasant Hill Road in Athens because of a verbal dispute between a man and a woman.

At the scene, deputies spoke to the individuals who said they pulled over because the woman was sick.

A family member was then contacted to pick up the woman.

Dog Stampede

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a call claiming 20 to 30 dogs were running in the street around Main Street and Town Street in Glouster.

Deputies patrolled the area, but no dogs were found.

Thursday, May 22

Hunt of the raccoon

At Kincade Road in Guysville, an individual called the Athens County Sheriff’s Office to report that a vehicle had hit a raccoon and needed to be euthanized.

Deputies responded and were unable to locate the raccoon.

Sir, I just walk this way

A man was reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office for being intoxicated on Monroe Avenue in Chauncey.

Deputies found the man and determined he was not intoxicated. The man was allowed to continue to his residence.

Friday, May 23

I don’t want to fight, but I want your money

A threat was reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office on Lexington Avenue in Chauncey.

Deputies responded and discovered the complaint was an online scam.

Morgan Street brawl

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fight on Morgan Street in Glouster.

On the scene, deputies investigated, spoke with several individuals and took a report.

Saturday, May 24

Just a flat

Athens County Sheriff’s Office patrolled the area of state Route 33 near Movies 10 in Nelsonville after deputies received a report of a motorcycle accident.

It was found that the motorcycle was not in an accident but had a flat tire. The motorcyclist was uninjured.

Explosions not shots

According to a report from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, shots were fired near a residence at Cross Street in The Plains.

Deputies responded and determined it was fireworks being set off.

Sunday, May 25

Doggy drop-off

A woman found a dog on the roadway and reported it to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies placed the dog in the shelter and returned to patrol.

No more talking to me

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a harassment complaint from Meadowbrook Road in Albany.

At the scene, deputies talked to the complainant and said to block the number harassing the individual.

Monday, May 26 (Happy Memorial Day!)

Memorial Day vandal 

Two vandalism reports involving the Millfield Community Park were filed with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

At the scene, deputies discovered vulgar graffiti spray-painted on the restroom building, park sign and a section of the sidewalk.

In addition, it was discovered that a bus belonging to the Federal Hocking School District had been damaged.

According to the reports, anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Athens County Sheriff's Office’s Lt. John Morris.

Celebration got out of hand

During the night, a man was reported to the Athens County Sheriff’s Office for being intoxicated, shouting and creating problems for his significant other.

No violence or threats were reported or found at the scene, and deputies warned the man for disorderly conduct. They encouraged him to either separate from his significant other or go to bed.

Tuesday, May 27

Don't you hear them?

Athens County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a theft that took place at High Street in Chauncey, where a son stole his mother’s cellphone.

The mother said he stole it because she would not give him money. Deputies tried to contact the son living at Mill Street in Chauncey. However, the people in the house could not hear the deputies knocking.

A report was taken, and charges will be filed once the cell phone information is provided.

Not edible donuts

According to a report from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to property damage at Rays Harvest House.

Evidence recorded a donut was made in the gravel parking lot, which left the business with three broken windows.

An investigation will be conducted once security camera footage is received.
