Police Blotter: Lost guns, stolen money, trespassing

Wednesday, June 25

How do you lose a gun?

Deputies of the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from South Plains Road in The Plains regarding a gun left behind in the parking lot of a business. 

Deputies took the firearm and placed it in evidence, but at the time, the owner of the firearm was unknown.

Please stop calling me!

A man contacted the Athens County Sheriff’s Office and said the mother of his adopted children is harassing him on social media, and he asked deputies to tell her to stop. 

Deputies made contact with the woman and told her if she did not stop calling the man, charges could be filed against her.

You better have my money

Athens County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a call from Monserat Ridge Road regarding complaints of theft. 

On the scene, deputies were informed money had been stolen out of the caller's car while it was parked at his house. Deputies took a report, and an investigation was pending at the time the media release was posted. 

Get off my lawn!

Deputies from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from Meadowbrook Road in Albany in regards to a trespassing complaint. On the scene, deputies took a report. 

Monday, June 30

Warrants of the week

The Athens County Sheriff’s Office has put out warrants of arrest for Steven Decker and Rochelle Gloeckner. 

Decker violated his probation by failing to appear as required by recognizance, as well as possession of drugs. Gloeckner violated her probation by having a weapon while under a disability. 

Anyone with information on Decker or Gloeckner is to contact the Athens County Sheriff’s Office. 

Nothing to worry about here

Deputies with the Athens County Sheriff’s Office found a vehicle pulled off the roadway and onto a trail. 

Deputies investigated, but there was no one in the vehicle, and nothing suspicious was observed.

Tuesday, July 1

K9 unit hard at work!

Nelsonville Police Department requested assistance from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit on a traffic stop after criminal indicators were observed. 

K9 Cody was dispatched to the scene, where he gave a positive indication to the smell of narcotics coming from the car. 

Suspected narcotics as well as drug paraphernalia were found. The Nelsonville Police Department continued with the investigation after the drugs were detected. 

False alarm?

Athens County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call from The Plains regarding a traffic hazard. 

It was reported a vehicle part was in the middle of the road, but when deputies arrived at the scene, nothing was found. 

Weekend Blotter

When the Sheriff’s Office was contacted Wednesday, Austin Wickman from administration stated there was a glitch in the system the office uses for the police reports, and all of the reports filed over the weekend — Friday, Saturday and Sunday — were erased.
