Ohio Notes

Ohio is still hot off their first conference win of the season, giving them a perfect start in MAC play. The Bobcats’ 3-4-1 overall record has been more consistent in recent matches besides their most recent conference win. At home, Ohio is 1-2-1, but the win on the road earlier this month could be a sign of the team turning the corner.

The Bobcats will look to carry momentum into this matchup and lean on their defense, which has shown strength this season. A win against one of the MAC’s strongest programs would provide a huge confidence boost moving deeper into conference play.

Opponent Notes

Bowling Green has been one of the hottest teams in the MAC. The Falcons (6-1-1, 1-0 MAC) have built their record on strong home performances, going 4-1-1 at Cochrane Stadium, while also proving they can win away from home with a perfect 2-0 road record.

Offensively, Bowling Green has been highly efficient, and its three-game winning streak shows the Falcons are finding their stride at the right time. Defensively, the Falcons have limited opponents to few opportunities, making them one of the toughest teams to break down in the conference.

The last game in its winning streak came against Kent State by a score of 2-1, and it was junior forward Emma Stransky who scored both of the goals in the win. The brace led to her earning MAC Offensive Player of the Week honors, and she will be one to watch on Thursday.

Players to Watch

Graduate senior Quintin Tostevin is coming off the game-winning goal against Central Michigan and remains a vital spark for Ohio’s attack. Her ability to find scoring opportunities, paired with Ohio’s improving offensive depth, will be crucial if the Bobcats hope to upset Bowling Green.

All year, Ohio goalkeeper Celeste Sloma has been a key part of the team’s success, providing quality shot-stopping. The last game against Central Michigan was no different, as she had six saves while keeping a shutout throughout the game.

For her performance, she was named the MAC Goalkeeper of the Week, and she will look to continue her strong play against the Falcons.
