The Bobcats kicked off their season traveling to Kewadin, Michigan, for Central Michigan’s A-Ga-Ming Invitational from Aug. 31-Sept. 1. The Bobcats finished the tournament in fifth place.

In the first round, the Bobcats started off on fire with junior Zoe Luebbers and senior Mackenzie McRee both finishing under par. Luebbers finished three under, where she shot two under on the front with three birdies and five pars and one under on the back with four birdies and two pars. McRee finished two under par with an even front nine, picking up two birdies and four pars. While dominating the back nine, shooting two under, including three straight birdies on holes 15-17.

Sophomore Ally Turner also shot one over par while playing independently with an even front nine, including two birdies and five pars and one over on the back with eight pars.

Finally rounding out the group came sophomore Saylor Whariff, finishing three over. On the front nine, she shot two over with two birdies and five pars, and on the back nine, shot one over with two birdies on holes 10 and 13 before going on to par four straight holes. The team finished the round in first place at one under par.

In the second round, the Bobcats struggled. Leubbers and McRee both shot one over par. Leubbers struggled on the front picking up three bogeys but recovered with a clean back nine of two birdies and seven par.

As for McRee, she started the front nine off hot with two straight birdies before picking up a bogey and double bogey on holes seven and eight. On the back nine, she added another birdie to go with six pars.

Freshman Paige Treherne picked up the slack, shooting two over, including an impressive front nine, shooting one under and finishing with a solid three over round on the back nine. Rodgers shot nine over while Treherne and Wharriff finished ten over. This performance dropped the Bobcats into second place, headed into the final round.

In the final round, the Bobcats finished in fifth place with a final score of +16. Leubbers kept up her fantastic play, shooting two over with an even front nine, picking up one birdie, seven pars, and a bogey. On the back nine, a costly double bogey on 12 helped her finish two over on the back in addition to her three birdies.

Turner joined Leubbers at two over with an even front nine and before picking up three bogeys on holes 10, 11 and 13 before finishing the round with a smooth four pars and a birdie.

McRee and Rodgers finished the final round at three over par. Rodgers was locked in on the front nine, shooting two under with a clean seven pars and two birdies. She stayed strong with three straight pars on holes 9-11 before picking up five bogeys on the final six holes.

Treherne finished eight over par with a four over par on both the front and back nine, but fought back with a birdie on 9 before paring holes 10-12.
