Each week, the Sports' editorial team selects its Top 25 FBS college football teams for the Student Media Poll.
The SMP is a nationwide poll featuring 25 student journalists from schools nationwide.
The Post Sports will break down its ballot each week. Here is a breakdown of the top five, those dropped from the Top 2 and those added.
Top 5
Ohio State (2-0)
After a lackluster week one with only two touchdowns on offense, the defending champs continued their season against an FCS program, Grambling State. The Buckeyes put up 70 points on Saturday, led by the best player in the country, Jeremiah Smith, who had 5 catches for 119 yards and two touchdowns.
The best part of the game for Ohio State was still its defense. The Buckeye defense turned over the Tigers' offense three times, including a scoop and score to open the second half of the shutout victory.
Penn State (2-0)
Another championship hopeful kept rolling in week two. The Nittany Lions also shut out their opponent, Florida International, in a 34-0 win. Drew Allar continued his strong start to the season with 200 yards and two touchdown passes. The running back duo of Kaytron Allen and Nicholas Singleton had 220 yards together and each found the endzone on Saturday afternoon.
Georgia (2-0)
Georgia played a tighter game than they expected against FCS school Austin Peay. I felt they shouldn’t be penalized after the 28-6 win due to the weather in Athens, Georgia, on Saturday. The Bulldogs were dominant on the ground, with all of their touchdowns coming from running backs Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens, a positive sign after neither found the endzone last week.
Oregon (2-0)
128. That’s how many points the Ducks have put on the board in the first two weeks of the season, which is good for third in the country in points per game. Oregon and sophomore quarterback Dante Moore have been firing on all cylinders. He has had three passing touchdowns in both games so far.
Miami (FL) (2-0)
One of the big stories of the offseason was the transfer portal acquisition of quarterback Carson Beck by the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes got right to work this season by defending home field against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in a tight matchup.
After that big win, Miami got right back to work this week, beating FCS program Bethune-Cookman 45-3. Beck threw two touchdowns on the night, coupled with two on the ground by running back Mark Fletcher Jr.
Who I Added: 23 South Florida and 25 Auburn
After dismantling Boise State 34-7 in Tampa during week one, USF backed it up by traveling to the Swamp and, in the final seconds, kicked a game-winning field goal to upset number 13 Florida. The Bulls have been led by quarterback Byrum Brown, who has so far thrown a touchdown, plus two more on the ground, to be the driving force of two consecutive wins.
Auburn transferred in quarterback Jackson Arnold from Oklahoma, and he dominated against Ball State, throwing three touchdowns in a 42-3 win. The Tigers have also had strong play from running back Jeremiah Cobb. He already has almost 200 yards on the ground and three touchdowns amid the 2-0 start.

Who I Dropped: Arizona State and SMU
The defending Big 12 Conference champs started their season off with a win over Northern Arizona, but the expectations may have gotten the best of them on the road against Mississippi State on Saturday night. They battled back to take the lead in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs scored in the final minute to shock the Sun Devils and send them to (1-1) on the season.
The big play ability was the story of the game for quarterback Kevin Jennings, who had two 70+ yard touchdown passes in the first half against Baylor. The second half brought more of a challenge for the Mustangs through the air as the game went into overtime tied at 38. They scored in the first period but were stopped in the second to fall 48-45 to the Bears.
