On Sept. 19, Houston rapper Monaleo went live on TikTok to broadcast her wedding at 4 p.m. CT, which amassed over 100,000 viewers. Monaleo’s wedding was particularly unique in comparison to a run-of-the-mill traditional white wedding, as her wedding ceremony was all-pink.
Before the wedding, fans were posting TikToks showing their wedding outfits and preparing for what would be a virtual ceremony on their end. Most outfits featured pink clothing, as well as pink blush across the cheeks and nose, which were references to Monaleo’s signature looks.
The groom, North Carolinian rapper Stunna 4 Vegas, sported a light pink tuxedo with rose gold accents.
The venue of the wedding was adorned with pink and white flower arches and bouquets, a mirrored pink floor down the aisle and other pink, white and gold decorations that had TikTok viewers in awe.
Many unique details made this wedding a viral sensation. Besides the pink theme, Monaleo had the matriarchs of her family act as flower girls, breaking the tradition of young girls. She carried on the long African American tradition of “jumping the broom.” The tradition honors enslaved ancestors who could not be legally married and also symbolizes brushing off the past and jumping into the future.
At her Blushing Bridal Shower, she had her closest friends and family write blessings on bay leaves and stick them into her cinnamon broom stick, which her grandmother blessed afterward. She also had a unity candle ceremony where both she and Stunna lit candlesticks to symbolize the unity of their marriage. Her bridesmaids carried flower baskets adorned with white and pink roses.
Despite these illustrious details, like many weddings, the bride’s dress stole the show. Monaleo wore a pink dress by Alonuko Bridal paired with pink Jimmy Choo Alia Crystal Pointy Toe Pumps purchased by Stunna. The top of the dress was off-the-shoulder, with pink lace and mesh, with a plunge neckline. The skirt of the dress looked like something from a fairytale. It was a blush pink ball gown, with pink detailing and a full skirt, fit for a princess. She also wore a veil and sported silver and gold jewelry.
Viewers watched Monaleo as she walked down the aisle on her father’s arm to Beyonce’s song “1+1” and got emotional watching Stunna burst into tears. Many viewers said this was their unofficial first wedding.
Monaleo also went on to post snippets of the reception, which also stunned audiences. This reception was also pink-themed but stuck out to viewers as they got to witness heartfelt speeches from the family members and newlyweds, private dances and Monaleo and Stunna rapping each other's songs.
Their first dance was to Monaleo’s own song “Cosmic Love,” an R&B ballad she wrote for her first LP.
The reception also had a surprise guest appearance from Texas rap legend Bun B of UGK, where he rapped his iconic hit “Int’l Players Anthem.” Jeweler Johnny Dang, Houston rap legend Paul Wall and fellow rapper BunnaB were also in attendance.
Fans across Instagram, X and TikTok were enthralled by the entire ceremony. Many shared the sentiment that the wedding served as a celebration of youthful black love, the importance of finding someone perfect for you and overall approval of Monaleo and Stunna’s approach to the wedding. On Instagram, Monaleo’s wedding post currently has almost 550k likes and 45k reposts.
The hashtag #Stunna4Leo on TikTok includes all of Monaleo, Stunna and others behind the scenes and real-time videos of the event.
