Nelsonville candidates see wins and losses

The following vote amounts and percentages are from unofficial results as of 9:08 p.m. Tuesday.

As ballots get cast and “I voted” stickers get placed on shirts, candidates wait for the final votes in Athens County. The final result of the Nelsonville votes for most candidates is as follows, according to the Athens County Board of Elections.

Nelsonville Auditor

Andrea Nicole Thompson-Hashman ran for Nelsonville auditor and received 270 votes.

According to a previous report by The Post, she previously served as Nelsonville Clerk of Council. 

Nick Smith also ran as an independent write-in candidate for Nelsonville auditor. There were 177 write-in votes in total.

Nelsonville City Council President

Daniel Sherman ran for Nelsonville City Council President as a Republican and ran unopposed with a total of 232 votes. 

According to a 2023 report from the Columbus Dispatch, Sherman was at the heart of many controversies and reportedly called the fire chief a profanity. 

Nelsonville City Council At-Large

There were six seats open for City Council At-Large, with every candidate securing a seat.

Wesley Henderson ran for a City Council At-Large seat and received 122 votes. 

Lynn Bishop ran for a City Council At-Large seat and received 273 votes.

Jessica Hollenbaugh, a noted Republican, ran for a City Council At-Large seat and received 303 votes.

Nic Joseph Saul ran for a City Council At-Large seat and received 175 votes

McCray Powell ran for a City Council At-Large seat and received 202 votes.

Glenn Smith ran for a City Council At-Large seat and received 143 votes.

Cameron Peck also ran for Nelsonville City Council At-large for a term of Dec. 1-31, 2025; he received 227 votes.
