Trump says Netflix deal to buy Warner Bros. ‘could be a problem’
President Donald Trump said the Netflix deal to buy Warner Bros. Discovery could “be a problem” due to the size of their combined market share, according to The Associated Press.
When asked about the deal at the red carpet for the Kennedy Center Honors on Dec. 7, Trump said Netflix has “a very big market share and when they have Warner Bros., you know, that share goes up a lot, so I don’t know.”
Trump later said he has to see what percentage of the market the two companies have and noted he knows the companies and what they are doing very well, according to the AP.

Trump allows Nvidia to sell computer chips for AI to China
Trump said he permits Nvidia to sell computer chips used in developing artificial intelligence to China, according to the AP.
The sale applies only to approved customers in China, according to the AP.
Trump said Xi Jinping “responded positively” to the sale.
A group of Democratic senators opposed the sale. The group includes Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Chris Coons, Brian Schatz, Michael Bennet, Jeanne Shaheen, Andy Kim, Elissa Slotkin and Jack Reed.
“Access to these chips would give China’s military transformational technology to make its weapons more lethal, carry out more effective cyberattacks against American businesses and critical infrastructure, and strengthen its economic and manufacturing factor,” the senators’ statement said, according to the AP.

Miami votes in Democratic mayor, first time in 30 years
Democrat Eileen Higgins won the Miami mayor race Tuesday, according to the AP.
Higgins is Miami’s first woman mayor and was elected over Trump-endorsed candidate Emilio Gonzalez.
"We are facing rhetoric from elected officials that is so dehumanizing and cruel, especially against immigrant populations,” Higgins said to the AP after her victory speech. “The residents of Miami were ready to be done with that.”

U.S. seized oil tanker off Venezuelan coast
Trump said the U.S. seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela on Wednesday, according to the AP.
Trump said to reporters at the White House that “it was seized for a very good reason,” according to the AP, and provided no additional details.
The tanker is the largest one ever seized, according to Trump.
The U.S. Coast Guard led the seizure with support from the Navy, according to the AP.

Indiana Republicans reject Trump’s redistricting push
Indiana’s Republican-majority Senate rejected a redrawn congressional map that would have favored the GOP, according to the AP.
The rejection comes after months of pressure from Trump as he continues to urge Republicans to redraw congressional maps to ensure the party keeps its majority in the House.
Spencer Deery is one of the Republican senators who voted no on the map.
“The federal government should not dictate by threat, or other means, what should happen in our state,” Deery said, according to the AP.

Search for person of interest in Brown University shooting continues
Authorities in Providence, Rhode Island, continue to search for the Brown University gunman, according to the AP.

Two students were killed in the shooting, and nine were injured in the shooting Saturday evening, according to the AP.
The Ivy League school was beginning its final exam week when the shooting occurred. All exams have since been canceled.
