Ohio (10-4 overall, 4-0 Mid-American Conference) prepares to battle conference rival Kent State (6-10 overall, 1-4 MAC) this Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Kent for the Golden Flashes’ Welcome Back Student Bash.
The Bobcats are carrying a five-game win streak into this game, after a win on Saturday at Buffalo. The Golden Flashes beat Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti Saturday to give them their first MAC win this season.
When the Bobcats and Golden Flashes met last season, Kent State prevailed in a 79-64 win over Ohio. Kent State recently lost to Central Michigan by 9 points, while Ohio beat them 85-83 in overtime. The Bobcats were led by junior guard Bailey Tabeling’s career-high 21 points, with forward Elli Garnett adding 19 points. Tabeling leads the team with 13.7 points per game, making 38% of her free throws through 14 games. She also made 30% of her attempted 3-pointers.
Ohio is much improved from last season, already matching the number of conference wins they had. The Golden Flashes have struggled so far in conference play, notching their first win over Eastern Michigan in their previous game.
