Aimee Edmondson has been officially named the interim dean of the Ohio University Scripps College of Communication, according to an OU press release. The decision, announced Sunday, states Edmondson will assume the position July 1.
Edmondson began at OU in 2008 as an assistant professor and now serves as the associate dean of the Scripps College of Communication. She is a recipient of numerous accolades throughout her career, including the American Journalism Historian Association’s Best Article Award in 2021.
Edmondson follows the former dean, Scott Titsworth, who decided to step down after over 15 years in the position. Titsworth is taking a year-long faculty fellowship leave before returning to teaching, according to the press release.
Edmondson discussed her intentions moving forward in the role.
“I look forward to building on the strong momentum established by Dean Titsworth and to helping ensure that Scripps continues to rise to even greater prominence on the national and international stage,” Edmondson wrote in a press release. “I am committed to leading with honesty, listening with empathy and collaborating with energy and purpose alongside our partners across campus and throughout our broader community — locally and globally.”
