The University of Connecticut announced yesterday the hiring of former Bobcat Ellen Herman as assistant volleyball coach.

Herman played professionally in Germany after a standout career for Ohio. She was a two-time Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and left as both the school’s and the MAC’s all-time leader in kills.

“I am very excited to welcome Ellen as a part of the UConn Volleyball family,” Connecticut coach Holly Strauss-O’Brien said in a press release. “Her energy, successful playing experience and passion for the game will be valuable assets to the program and to the development of our student-athletes.”

In  her four years with the Bobcats, Herman helped Ohio advance to the NCAA Tournament each year. She is Ohio’s all-time leader in points and attacks, and competed on the U.S. National Team in the Tour of Chine in February 2010.
