Time and time again, Tommy Freeman has found some open real estate, squared up and drained a shot from long range. But the career milestone he accomplished Saturday came on a less typical shot.

Freeman scored his 1,000 career point on a free throw attempt with 3:15 remaining in the first half against Kent State. He started the game with 998 career points and nailed both shots of a one-and-one opportunity to become the 31st Ohio player to reach quadruple digits.

Freeman missed an earlier 3-point shot and turned down another wide-open opportunity to feed the ball inside to an equally wide-open DeVaughn Washington.

The free throws put Ohio ahead 36-21. The Bobcats went to the locker room with a 14-point lead.
