Weather has not been kind to Ohio this season.

After enduring frigid temperatures in February and March (in the team's first Mid-American Conference series against Ball State, wind chill made it as cold as 20 degrees), rain has once again kept the Bobcats off the field.

Ohio couldn't play either of its mid-week games this week because of thunderstorms in Athens. Tuesday's game with Youngstown State was postponed to next Wednesday and yesterday's contest with Ohio State was canceled.

All in all, Ohio had four games canceled or postponed in the last two weeks.

Heading into their weekend series with MAC East Division Leader Kent State, the Bobcats got one full outdoor practice in, on Thursday.

Coach Joe Carbone said the team has been forced to practice in its indoor batting cage facility all week. And while the Bobcats can work on their swing there, it's difficult to practice fielding.

"We've been inside for the last two or three days," Carbone said. "We've gotta get out here and we have to take ground balls, and do more fly-ball, line-drive outside work, and then go back inside.

"The thing about constantly seeing the ball in the air, depth perception, and reading the ball, ground balls, fly balls, we have to do that today more than anything."
