After three innings, Ohio leads Northern Illinois 2-1. The Bobcats took an early 2-0 lead on a Jensen Painter home run to left field in the bottom of the first. Newton also scored on the play. 

Newton led the inning off with a single and eventually stole second to put himself in scoring position. It was his 15th steal of the season. 

The Huskies pulled within one on a two-out RBI single in the top of the second. 

Seth Streich is on the mound  and hitting sixth for the Bobcats. 

UPDATE: After six innings, the score remains 2-1 Ohio. Seth Streich has now retired 10 consecutive batters heading into the sixth.

Ohio threatened with a runner on second and one out in the bottom of the fifth but could not bring him home. 

Ethan Newton was thrown out at second on his second steal attempt of the day. 

Ohio has five hits compared to the Huskies' two. 

UPDATE: Northern Illinois defeats Ohio 5-4. 

The Huskies scored four runs in the seventh inning to take a 5-2 lead. 

Ohio pulled within two with a run in the seventh. 

A single by Taylor Emody and a double by Dan Ward to led off the ninth inning. Seth Streich struck out and Garrett Black drove in a run with a ground out.

With two outs, Adam Gecewich lined a pitch right back to the pitcher. The ball was caught and the game ended 5-4. 

Had the pitcher not made the grab, the winning run from second would have likely scored. 

Streich gets the loss. Ohio outhit the Huskies 9-6, but also committed two errors.
