The final eight games of the season are right around the corner as the Bobcats head to Buffalo and then Kent this weekend.

The final eight games have the potential to move the Bobcats up in the Mid-American Conference Standings, or push them down, seeing that their final eight games are all against fellow MAC teams.

But while fatigue is an easy option for the Bobcats, head coach Jodi Hermanek said that they work hard to make sure that doesn’t happen.

“One of the things that the coaching staff has to do is pay attention to the fatigue that kind of sets in with the travel schedule, the academic schedule and their conditioning schedule,” she said. “So we just try to pay attention to it.”

With the final eight games being on the road, third baseman Paige Kemezis said it really doesn’t affect how they play.

“Travel doesn’t really affect us too much, because we are so used to it and we are always on the bus,” she said.  “This is actually a shorter bus ride – it’s like six or seven hours to Buffalo and then maybe three back down to Kent as opposed to Northern (Illinois), where that was like a eight or nine hour drive.”

The key to playing a good game and winning is in keeping things simple, Hermanek said.

“After we played all the games that we have, it’s just about really the fundamentals and paying attention to all the small skills of each person and the adjustments that they have to make in their game video,” she said, adding that they want to finish strong.

“We just really want to get on the field and play at this point,” she said.
