Athlete of the week: Emily Wethington, softball
Wethington captured Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week for her two-win performance in the Bobcats sweep of Akron. In two outtings, she allowed two runs while scattering eight hits over 10 2/3 innings. She struck out seven while not walking a batter.
At the plate, Wethington went 2-for-7 with a pair of RBI. In game one, Wethington hit the game-winning single that scored Melissa Bonner in the bottom of the eighth to propel the Bobcats to a 3-2 victory.
Honorable Mention: Seth Streich, baseball
Streich was a lone bright spot for the Bobcats in their three-game sweep at the hands of Western Michigan. Streich went 2-for-6 at the plate with an RBI and pitched 7 2/3 innings and gave up only two earned runs Friday, as he was a tough-luck loser in a 5-1 loss.
