Current Wellston head basketball coach and athletic director Jim Derrow died Monday morning.

According to multiple sources, Derrow died as a result of a heart attack.

Calling hours will be on Friday from noon to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Wellston High School gymnasium.

Derrow coached the Golden Rockets to seven sectional titles and three TVC Ohio Championships (1988, 1991, 2003). Over his 25 year tenure at his alma mater, Derrow amassed 288 wins.

Jim Derrow was also the head baseball coach at Wellston for the last five years and a teacher at the high school for 26 years.

He was a member of Wellston's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Derrow survived by his wife, Sheri, and two children, Mandi and Brant.
