After three innings, Ohio and Akron are tied at zero. 

In the first inning, Akron's leadoff batter reached on an error by first baseman Chandler Geller. The Zips' next batter hit a ball to deep center which Ethan Newton made a great play on to save at least one run. 

The Zips also threatened with two runners on in the second, but Seth Streich struck out the side to end the inning. 

In the bottom of the second, Ohio right fielder Adam Gecewich was thrown out at second on an attempted stolen base. The next batter, shortstop Garrett Black, doubled off the center-field wall on a hit that would have scored Gecewich. 

Through three innings, Ohio has outhit Akron 2-1. Both teams have committed an error. 

UPDATE: After six innings, The Bobcats lead the Zips 1-0.

After Ethan Newton reached base to lead off the sixth inning, he was picked off at first. But with two outs, third baseman Bryan Barnes hit a home run to right-center field to break the scoreless tie.  

Ohio also threatened in the bottom of the fifth when the Bobcats had runners on the corners with no outs. 

Unfortunately for Ohio, they were at the bottom of the order. Trace Voshell struck out and Wes O'Neill grounded into an inning-ending double play. 

Ohio has outhit Akron 6-2. 

UPDATE: Ohio has defeated Akron 1-0. 

Seth Streich pitched his second career complete-game shutout throwing 121 pitches allowing only four hits. 

Akron led off the ninth inning with a single to center field. Center fielder Brandon White laid down a bunt but Streich was able to throw out the runner at second. 

White eventually advanced to third on a passed ball but Streich struck out the final batter to secure the win. 

Ohio outhit Akron 9-4.
