The Bobcats are heading to the Mid-American Conference Tournament final round after they beat top-seeded Western Michigan.

Ohio (26-21) beat Western Michigan (22-28) this afternoon at Firestone Park in Akron, Ohio with a final score of 8-3.

The Bobcats took the lead early in the first, scoring four runs off three singles and a homer by designated player Lauren Gellerman. Ohio went into the second inning leading 4-0.

They scored once again in the second inning, bringing their lead to 5-0, and then they scored three more runs in the third inning, bringing the score to 8-0.

Western Michigan tried to rally in the fourth inning, scoring one run, bringing the score to 8-1, and they scored two more runs in the fifth inning. Ohio still lead 8-3.

Ohio held the lead the rest of the game, allowing no more runs nor scoring anymore of their own.

They will play at 9 p.m. against an unannounced team, weather permitting.
