Coach Calkins said that both girls, Annie Beecham and Kari Summers, had the potential to move on to the next round.

He also said that with a good race Beecham would qualify for the NCAA championships.  She did better than that.

She finished in third place in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 33 minutes and 50 seconds and shaved 18 seconds off of her previous best time in the event.  She even broke the all-time Mid-American Conference record.

Beecham will compete in Des Moines, Iowa next week on June 8th.

Summers finished in 20th place in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10 minutes and   Her finish however, was nothing to scoff at.

She cut close to nine seconds off of her personal best time in the event.

Stay with The Post for coach Clay Calkins' comments on Beecham continuing her career and the conclusion of an illustrious career for Summers.  Comments will come early this week.
