Awards seem to follow Jeremy Johnson wherever he goes.

After being named the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year last month, the redshirt freshman was named Third-Team All-Rookie by Amateur Wrestling News, the print publication that sits on the desk of such coaches as Ohio's Joel Greenlee.

With a record of 32-13, Johnson led the Bobcats in wins this season. He finished third at the MAC Championships and, as the first Ohio freshman to qualify for the national tournament since Germane Lindsey, made it to the round of 32 at the NCAA Championships.

Despite entering the season with redshirt junior Andy Hartshorn as competition, Johnson won the starting heavyweight job from the beginning of the year and helped the Bobcats win a share of their first regular-season MAC title since 1997.

Before he ever competed in an official college match, Johnson tied for fifth wrestling for Team USA at the Junior World Championships in Budapest, Hungary last summer.
