The Bobcat basketball team will reap the benefits of seven-foot Anthony Allen, a 2013 recruit who verbally committed to Ohio earlier this week and currently plays for College of Southern Idaho, as soon as he sets foot on campus, according to CSI coach Steve Gosar.

“I think this is a really good get for OU,” Gosar said. “He has a very bright future.”

Allen arrived on the CSI campus this fall to report for his first set of freshman classes and work in the gym with his new teammates. He was academically ineligible to play at Ohio coming out of high school and decided to sharpen his skill set in the junior college ranks this season and next.

“We have been working with him — he picks things up very quickly,” Gosar said, remarking on Allen’s work ethic. “He’s an athlete for a seven-foot kid.”

Allen will learn the ropes from an experienced CSI squad who won a national championship last season.

Gosar expressed excitement in guiding Allen to the next level.

“We’ll help him get up to speed. We hope he’ll contribute — that’s our goal. He’s got a chance to be a special player for Ohio,” Gosar said.
