A week ago, the Alexander High School football team sat at 17th place in the Division V, Region 19 Ohio High School Athletic Association rankings.

The Spartans have fallen from ubeaten only three games ago to mathematically ineligable for the playoffs, slipping to 19th in the standings.

Two of the teams that were responsible for Alexander's demise — Athens and Nelsonville-York — have secured spots in the postseason, with the Bulldogs ranked fourth in Division III, Region 12, and Buckeyes third in Division V, Region 19.

Both Athens and Nelsonville are undefeated heading into the final week of the regular season, during which the teams will face each other on the Bulldogs' home turf.

Trimble High School is sixth in the Division VI, Region 23 ranking, though with some confusion.

The Tomcats are 6-3 on the season because of a forfeit they were given late last week, stemming from a canceled contest earlier this season.

Trimble is listed at 6-2 in the ranking.
