Mike Stoops is out as head coach at Arizona, and a former Ohio coach is his replacement.

Tim Kish, a Westerville High School graduate, was named the Wildcats' interim head coach Monday. He previously served as the team's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

Kish was Ohio's defensive coordinator and linebackers coach in 2001 under head coach Brian Knorr. The Bobcats went 1-10 and allowed 29.3 points per game.

The coach also has experience at two other Mid-American Conference schools and four Big Ten programs. He was a graduate assistant at Bowling Green and an assistant coach at Ball State. Kish also worked at Northwestern, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue and Army.

Arizona is 1-5 this year and lost to then-winless Oregon State on the road last weekend. After a bye week, the Wildcats face UCLA at home Oct. 20.
