The Bobcats' mettle is about to be tested even though the regular-season schedule does not begin for another three weeks.

Ohio will visit Ohio State on Sunday in a scrimmage that will put the Bobcats up against the No. 3 team in The USA TODAY/ESPN preseason coaches poll. The rankings are based on the votes of 31 coaches, including Miami RedHawks coach Charlie Coles.

Ohio State was 34-3 last season and finished fifth in the final 2010-2011 coaches poll. Joining the Buckeyes in the top five are North Carolina, Kentucky, Connecticut and Syracuse.

Ohio has played Ohio State 21 times during the regular season, winning five of those games. The teams last met on Nov. 16, 1994, when the Bobcats beat the Buckeyes 74-67 in Columbus.
