Ohio's Toye Famodu has been honored by the Mid-American Conference as its Female Scholar Athlete of the Week.

Famodu has a 3.842 grade point average and is majoring in global studies, with a specialization in Latin America. She has two minors, anthropology and Spanish.

She made her mark on the pitch last weekend, when she had an assist and two goals. Famodu scored Ohio's only goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to Miami, assisted on the first goal against Bowling Green and then netted the insurance tally. She now leads the team in total points.

Famodu is the first female Bobcat athlete to earn the award this year. All previous winners from other schools this year have played volleyball or soccer.
