Two months into the season, the Bobcats are finally starting to get healthy as they prepare for their first CSCHL game this weekend against Bloomington.

Top-four defensemen Craig Myeroff (concussion) and Jake Holzemer (knee) have both been skating in the medical red jersey at practice this week. Myeroff is expected to travel with the team to Bloomington, while Holzemer will undergo an MRI today or tomorrow that will determine his status.

Defenseman Jake Warner, who took a vicious (and blatantly illegal) hit in the closing second of last Friday night’s game against Ohio State and was held out of Saturday’s contest as a precaution, will also be back this weekend.

The return or possible return of the three to the blue liners that Ohio won’t have to use first-line winger Nick Rostek as an emergency defenseman, as they did for last Saturday’s game. While Rostek filled in capably, both player and coach are happy he’ll return to his place on the top forward line.

“I’m sure he’ll be happy about that,” Morris said of Rostek.

The start of the conference season “means a lot” Morris said of this weekend’s games at IU, where the Bobcats will go in as a favorite to sweep both contests. But getting some of his top players means even more to the coach.

“When you go in as an underdog you’ve got to play to your strengths,” Morris said. “It’s a process for us, it’s an opponent for us. But am I going to go back and game plan for Indiana, probably not. I’m going to focus on getting healthy and playing our game.”
