Ohio junior guard Walter Offutt was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week Monday after leading the Bobcats to back-to-back wins last week.

Offutt hit five 3-pointers en route to a career-high 23 points in a critical road win against Buffalo Wednesday. He also pulled down seven boards against the Bulls, who lead the conference in rebounding.

He followed that performance with 14 points in Sunday night's win against Akron. He opened the scoring with back-to-back 3-pointers to spark the Bobcats' offense.

Offutt is playing his first season with Ohio. The Indianapolis, Ind. native played two seasons for Ohio State before leaving Columbus and heading to Athens.

This marks the second week in a row that an Ohio player has been named the MAC East Player of the Week. D.J. Cooper took home the award last week.
