A second Ohio recruit has changed his mind about being a Bobcat in the wake of former head coach John Groce’s decision to leave the school.

Caris LeVert, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Pickerington Central High School, tweeted that he was re-entering the recruiting search and that Ohio had released him from his National Letter of Intent. LeVert signed the letter back in November, well before Ohio’s Mid-American Conference Tournament championship and the subsequent run to the Sweet 16.

Groce left Ohio six days after Ohio wrapped up its deepest NCAA Tournament run since 1964. Bradds, a 6-foot-6 small forward who is a junior at Greenview High School in Jamestown, Ohio, announced his decision to reconsider his choice soon after Groce was introduced as Illinois’ head coach.

In his introductory press conference, new Ohio coach Jim Christian said he would reach out to recruits to help with the transition in program leadership.

Assuming that Ohio’s final scholarship is renewed after a year of subpar NCAA Academic Progress Rate reports, the Bobcats will have two open scholarships for next season.
