Ohio starting pitcher Brent Choban finished out the sixth inning on the mound as he has in every game this season. But soon thereafter the rain rolled in and the tarps were rolled out.

Ohio is losing 3-1 in a lightning-shortened Friday contest that lasted only through Choban's final pitch. Based on Mid-American Conference protocol, the game will be resumed Saturday at 3 p.m, moving the regularly scheduled game back.

Here's a breakdown of how things have played out so far in this game.

First inning:

A throwing error by Ohio starter Brent Choban put runners on the corners. A sacrifice fly by George Roberts made the score 1-0 in favor of Kent State. The Golden Flashes scored on another error in the inning by third baseman Dan Schmidt.

Second inning:

A bunt base hit loaded the bases for Kent State in the second. Choban tightroped out of the inning but surrendered a walk putting the Golden Flashes up three.

Fifth inning:

Kent starter David Starn's slider seemed to be baffling the Bobcat hitters until

Tyler Wells broke the ice by singling to load the bases. First basemen Jake Madsen got plunked by Starn, bringing the first run for the Bobcats.

Schmidt, the next batter, connected well on a blast up the third base line, but the ball took the perfect hop into Kent State third baseman's Sawyer Polen's glove to end the inning.
